SB 741 makes it through Assembly Committee on Business & Professions

On June 29, 2009, SB 741 unanimously passed out of the Assembly Committee on Business and Professions.  SB 741 would require proprietary security employers to register with the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS).

Currently, only proprietary security officers are required to register with BSIS.  This bill would finally give BSIS the enforcement authority they need to curb unlicensed activity, while creating a much-needed point-of-contact for BSIS and proprietary employers.

CALSAGA believes SB 741 will strengthen California’s private security industry by raising standards and increase consumer protection.  SB 741 will be heard next in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
