Senate confirms Carrie Lopez as Director of the Department of Consumer Affairs On April 14, the California State Senate confirmed Carrie Lopez as Director of the Department of Consumer Affairs on a 31-0 vote. Ms. Lopez was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on April 16, 2007 and has served in her current capacity since. Statute requires the California State Senate to confirm senior level Governor appointments, from Bureau Chiefs to Cabinet Secretaries. CALSAGA strongly supported Ms. Lopez and submitted a letter to Senator Don Perata and the Senate Rules Committee urging her confirmation. Click here to read the letter CALSAGA sent on March 21. We have had the pleasure of working with her on a number of issues facing the private security industry in California, and are impressed with her desire to work with our industry to ensure continued consumer and public protection. On behalf of CALSAGA and our members, we congratulate Ms. Lopez on her confirmation and look forward to working with her in the future. |
