| Three Workers' Compensation Issues to Consider |
Two items that should be at the top of the list for creating a successful workers’ compensation program are injury prevention and return-to-work strategies. Clearly these strategies are the foundation of your program: keeping workers safe, minimizing losses and lowering workers’ compensation costs.

| The California Budget Chronicles |
California legislators were delivered a huge setback last week as the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO), the nonpartisan and well-respected fiscal analysts for the Legislature, released a report announcing that California will face a $3.7 billion deficit in current year tax revenue by the middle of the fiscal year.
While Governor Jerry Brown painted an optimistic picture of a $4 billion increase in tax revenues, mostly coming from income, sales and corporate taxes, in order to pass his budget earlier this year, reality has proven otherwise. With one time cuts and simple budget mechanisms having been exhausted in order to balance the original budget, the deficit in revenue will trigger $2 billion in pre-approved cuts, mainly to K-12 education, UC and CSU and community college funding, come January 1, 2012.
