Association Manager Report -- May

May was a fantastic month for CALSAGA.  Some highlights include attending the inauguration ceremony for Lt. Governor Abel Maldonado and hosting a dinner in support of his re-election campaign; visiting the Capitol with members of our Legislative Committee who met with legislators on key issues, and the positive news that our sponsored bill, AB 2128, made it through the Assembly.

Our Board of Directors also met on May 6.  I am pleased to report that the Board took another positive step forward in adding a new benefit for CALSAGA members that would provide employers the option to provide health care coverage for their security officers – either paid by the employer or by the officer.  This is great news for employers and security officers.  We are working out the details with the vendor and hope we’ll be to make an official announcement with program details soon.

Abel Maldonado Becomes the 47th Lieutenant Governor of California

CALSAGA staff was thrilled to attend the inaugural ceremonies earlier this month for Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado, as he became the 47th person to serve the office in the state of California. A very good friend of the industry, Lt. Governor Maldonado gave a poignant speech, addressing the need for the state to reach out to small businesses and re-direct resources towards creating a foundation that supports vital industries and infrastructure that our state so greatly relies on.

While he took office immediately after confirmation, Maldonado will only be guaranteed to serve in the position for the rest of this year. He will face a contested primary election on June 8th, and if successful, a general election in the fall. In honor of Maldonado’s continued advocacy on behalf of the private security industry in California, and in support of his impending campaign, CALSAGA hosted a dinner for the Lieutenant Governor.

Celayix Software announces exclusive opportunity

In an effort to give back to the CALSAGA community, Celayix Software would like to offer CALSAGA members an exclusive opportunity.  Celayix’s company president will be in Southern California from June 7th - 11th.  Although their team is always available by phone, email or web, this is a rare chance to meet their top executive face-to-face.  Gurmit Dhaliwal has 10+ years experience in the security industry and will be making himself available to CALSAGA members in the Southern California area to share his expertise through a no-obligation, one-on-one discussion of their specific needs and their software’s related ROI.
