Association Manager Report -- March

It was just a few months ago that CALSAGA put in motion a proactive plan for 2010, aimed at building membership, providing more educational opportunities, impacting legislation, creating more membership benefits and ramping up our public relations efforts. I pleased to report that in a short period of time, we have already made significant progress on many of our goals.

Our efforts this year will continue to build on our prior achievements in shaping the organization and the security industry now and in the future. This is an exciting time for us – we hope that all of our members share in our enthusiasm!

CALSAGA meets with new BSIS Chief

On Tuesday, March 16, CALSAGA President Roy Rahn and members of CALSAGA staff met with new BSIS Chief Jeffrey Mason and Deputy Chief Connie Trujillo. In February, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Mr. Mason to fill the void left by former BSIS Chief Paul Johnson who retired in January 2009. Connie Trujillo, who was serving as Acting Chief since Johnson’s retirement, has returned to her role as Deputy Chief.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce ourselves to Mr. Mason, congratulate him on his appointment and to provide him background information about our industry and organization. CALSAGA has a long-standing history of developing strong working relationships with Bureau Chief’s and are confident that synergy will continue with Chief Mason.

The event offered attendees the opportunity to hear from Barry Bradley, CALSAGA Legal Counsel and Partner with the law firm, Bradley  & Gmelich, and Erika Frank, General Counsel  for the California Chamber of Commerce.
