June has been a difficult and tragic month for our industry. There have been at least 7 security officers that have been killed in the line of duty this month -- most notably, Officer Stephen Johns who was brutally murdered at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. His act of heroism and the response of his fellow officers literary saved countless of lives.

| Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento rolls out state-of-the art program |
Arden Fair Mall has implemented a license plate reader program in partnership with the Sacramento Police Department (SPD) that has generated strong results to date. It is the first partnership in the nation where private security has been able to scan plates and be connected to our local police department who receives the information.

Planning on attending the 2009 ASIS International Seminar and Exhibits Conference on September 21-24 in Anaheim? While the event is still a ways off, the planning for the event is in full swing. In fact, CALSAGA is teaming up with the National Association of Security Companies (NASCO) in co-sponsoring a booth at the summit and NASCO is hosting their 19th Annual Private Security Breakfast on Tuesday, September 22.

| Tenth Annual LEAPS Conference just around the corner |
The Tenth Annual Law Enforcement and Private Security (LEAPS) conference is scheduled for Friday, August 7 at the Wilshire Grand Hotel. The LEAPS conference is a partnership between the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the private security industry in the greater Los Angeles area. The conference was established ten years ago to foster the relationship between private security and local law enforcement.
