Association Manager Report - April April showers may bring May flowers, but for CALSAGA, May will bring a host of exciting CALSAGA events and activities as well! With the rainy season behind us, hopefully, we are looking forward to kicking off some much anticipated Regional meetings, our next round of seminars scheduled for June, and of course advancing our legislative and marketing efforts. Speaking of good news from the Legislature, we’re excited that our great friend, State Senator Abel Maldonado, is now Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado after being nominated by the Governor and recently confirmed by the Legislature. But the fight to help our friend does not end there, as Abel needs to campaign for a full term this year with both a competitive primary and general election. To help Abel, CALSAGA will be hosting a dinner in honor of his inauguration and re-election campaign. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at 6:30pm at Morton’s Steakhouse in Sacramento. Lt. Governor Maldonado has been a tireless advocate for California’s private security industry and CALSAGA, authoring key pieces of legislation over the years that have dramatically increased the professionalism of our industry. . I am also very excited to announce that the newly formed CALSAGA speakers bureau program is officially up and running. Our first event will take place on June 10 with the local Sacramento chapter of ASIS International, and will feature a presentation by one of our Board of Directors. As you may remember, the speakers bureau was created to help promote CALSAGA and the many initiatives we have taken on throughout the years to advance our industry. If you are aware of any associations, service clubs, or companies that might benefit from learning more about CALSAGA and the private security industry, please feel free to contact one of our staff members and we can set up an event. The next meeting of the CALSAGA Board of Directors will take place on May 6 in Sacramento. We will be discussing progress made against the strategic plan we put in action in January, including increasing benefits, membership growth and more educational opportunities. In particular, I am looking forward to discussing the wonderful job the CALSAGA Training Committee has done as they have spent many hours over the last few months, meticulously reviewing and revising our training material to better ensure that our members have the most updated information possible. Additionally, the Committee has been busy developing a new training curriculum for proprietary security officers. Finally, we realize that it may be difficult to keep track of our upcoming events, so we are happy to announce the addition of a CALSAGA viewable calendar to our website page in the very near future. It is my hope that this will allow our members better access to events taking place in their region and will permit CALSAGA to continue to hold insightful meetings and networking events. I hope to see you at an event in the very near future! Best Regards,
Jeff Flint Association Manager
