Welcome to the brand new CALSAGA eNewsletter! With the world becoming more digital, this eNewsletter will be an exciting new way to keep timely information flowing to our members.
Our current quarterly magazine, Observed & Reported, is enjoyed by many of our members. But despite strong support from our advertisers, the magazine is not self-supporting. Furthermore, the information in a quarterly publication can become dated very quickly, and in some cases is out of date by the time the printed magazine reaches members.

| Legislative Update |
As you know, a number of CALSAGA member companies had difficulty responding to client demands for higher staffing levels during the recent wildfires in Southern California. To address this concern, CALSAGA has introduced legislation this year that would permit security officers from other states to perform security functions in California during a declared State of Emergency in our state.
The legislation would require BSIS to pre-certify states that have similarly high training and background standards to California, so that the temporarily imported officers would no decrease public safety or the higher standards we have all sought in California.

| Around the office |
  What a busy 2008 so far! We’ve sponsored new legislation, conducted successful meal and rest break seminars and our second annual membership directory is currently being printed. We anticipate the directory reaching your mail box by the end of the month. We think you'll find it was worth the wait.
At the March Board of Directors meeting, the Board decided that to honor Senator Abel Maldonado as our 2007 Legislator of the Year.
