Association Manager Report- June

I can hardly believe it, but we are already half way through 2010! As we approach the second half of the year with as much vigor and tenacity as the first six months, I am proud to say that we have already accomplished many of the goals we established for CALSAGA at the beginning of the year. We’ve had successful seminars and regional events. Our sponsored legislation, AB 2128 by Assemblymember Gaines (R-Roseville), is moving nicely through the legislature, and we saw a true industry friend in former State Senator Abel Maldonado elevated to the job of Lieutenant Governor, and with our help, successfully pass his first step in retaining that position for a full term.

Check out all the articles in this issue to learn all we’re doing to provide value to our members.

But a successful first half of the year is not reason to slow down, and we’ve got a lot in the works as we move into July.

By now, you should have heard from us as we reached out to members to help us update the online CALSAGA Membership Directory. Whether it be a security officer looking for a training facility or a potential client looking for local security firms, the directory is an invaluable resource and great benefit to our members. If you have not already done so, I highly recommend you take a few minutes to fill out the form we previously sent you and that you can access again here. Updates are due by July 7th, and once all are received, we will post the revised directory to the front page of the CALSAGA website, providing users better access to member information.

With less than four months until our 2010 Annual Conference, planning for our signature annual event is in high gear around the CALSAGA office! As mentioned in last month’s issue, this year’s conference is sure to be the best yet, with a new schedule format and the introduction of the much anticipated, First Annual CALSAGA Conference Gala Dinner. This new headlining event will be held on the evening of Thursday, October 28th at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel and Spa. Great food, good people and a beautiful setting to top it all off, this event will surely be a highlight of a great Conference and start a wonderful new tradition!

In addition to the gala dinner at this year’s annual conference, I am thrilled to announce that we will be presenting a well respected CALSAGA member with the Al Howenstein Security Professional of the Year Award. This Award was originally presented at our Annual Conference in 2008 to Al Howenstein, a founding member of CALSAGA and tireless industry ambassador. Official criteria, deadlines and nomination forms for the award will be available online at www.calsaga.org.

With so many exciting upcoming events and goals to achieve, I am excited to charge full steam ahead into the second half of 2010, and would like to extend a very special thanks to all of our active and supportive members who have helped make our recent successes possible.

Best,

flint
