| SB 666 Advisory Committee holds second meeting |
On Wednesday, June 11, the BSIS Advisory Committee on Senate Bill 666 held their second meeting to develop training curriculum for proprietary security officers at the Department of Consumer Affairs. As you may recall, the committee originally met on April 9 where substantial progress was made. A sub-committee met in the middle of May to continue to flesh out ideas, in an effort to put forth an agreeable training curriculum for all.

On Wednesday, July 16, CALSAGA will recognize State Senator Abel Maldonado as our 2007 Legislator of the Year for his demonstrated leadership on issues of importance to the security industry.
As many of you know, Senator Maldonado has been a champion for CALSAGA, authoring key pieces of legislation that have significantly increased standards and the overall professionalism of our industry.

| June legislative brief |
With summer now upon us, things are heating up in Sacramento and in the Capitol. Progress on the meal and rest break issue has been moving forward, with CALSAGA legislative leadership and staff participating in recent discussions with representatives of organized and other interested industries. While we have not yet come to agreement on any language, CALSAGA continues to push forward in hopes of brokering a compromise later in the legislative session.
