April 22, 2005 BSIS Names New Deputy Chief CALSAGA has learned that the new Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Deputy Chief has been named, filling the vacancy created when Sherrie Moffett-Bell was promoted to Chief of the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau late last year. The new BSIS Deputy Chief is Robert Puleo, a long time veteran of the Department of Consumer Affairs with extensive public policy experience. Mr. Puleo's biography follows: Robert Puleo has more than 20 years of public-sector experience. He has previously worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the California Legislative Counsel Bureau, the State Board of Landscape Architects, and most recently, the Division of Legislative & Regulatory Review within the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), where he has served as both a Legislative analyst and the Division's Manager. In addition, he has assisted DCA executive staff through several transitional periods by accepting interim leadership and management assignments. During his 12 years with DCA, Robert has had the opportunity to work closely with many of the Department's board, bureau, and program staff and is therefore quite familiar with the issues affecting the Department's regulatory programs. Former Bureau Chief Steve Giorgi, now Deputy Director of the Department of Consumer Affairs, will be attending both CALSAGA Regional meetings next week in Southern and Northern California, and will give members an update on other Bureau issues along with participating in the LiveScan discussions. If you have not yet RSVP'd for the regional meetings, call the CALSAGA office at (866) 310-2551, or check out the events section on the website. |
