California Senate confirms Jeffrey Mason to BSIS Chief Post A day after the Senate Rules Committee voted 5-0 to recommend Jeffrey Mason’s confirmation as BSIS Chief, the Senate voted today 32-0 to confirm his appointment. As many of you know, Chief Mason was appointed by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger last January, and because the BSIS Chief position is a Governor appointed position, the Senate is required by law to confirm or deny all appointees within a year of that individual taking office. At yesterday’s Senate Rules Committee hearing, CALSAGA Northern California Vice President Bryon Bayer provided testimony in support of Chief Mason and spoke to his accessibility, his work to create greater efficiencies within the Bureau and his efforts to curb unlicensed activity as a means to improving consumer and public protection. Chief Mason’s confirmation is good for our industry and good for continuity at the Bureau. We appreciate the fresh perspective he has been able to bring as Chief and look forward to working with him and his staff for many more years to come. Please join us in congratulating BSIS Chief Jeffrey Mason!
