URGENT GRASSROOTS ACTION ALERT: Call Senator Lou Correa and Senator Rod Wright to urge a no vote on AB 350 today!! Last night, AB 350 by Assemblyman Jose Solorio (D—Santa Ana) failed passage on the Senate Floor on an 18-18 vote. The bill needs 21 votes to make it out of the Senate. To read about the bill and why CALSAGA is in opposition, click here. At the request of Assemblyman Solorio, the bill will be heard one last time today to see if he can garner 21 votes. The votes will have to come from one of the four Senators who abstained from voting, or by convincing one of the Senators who originally voted against the bill to change their vote. Because the passage or failure of AB 350 could come down to a single vote, we are asking members, especially members in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas, to contact their Senator to urge a “no” vote. For members in the greater Los Angeles area, we urge you to contact Senator Rod Wright (D—Los Angeles) and mention any connection you have to his district, either you are in or near his district, that you employ people from his district, or serve locations in/near his district. Conversely, for members in Orange County, we urge to contact Senator Lou Correa (D—Santa Ana) and mention any connection you have to his district, either you are in or near his district, that you employ people from his district, or serve locations in/near his district. Additionally, because Senator Correa has generally been a good vote for business over the years, it’s important to let his office know you were surprised by his “aye” vote last night on AB 350 and that if the bill is up for consideration again, that you hope the Senator would consider switching his “aye” vote to “no”. Below is contact information for both offices: Senator Rod Wright Senator Lou Correa (310) 412-0393 – Inglewood (714) 558-4400 – Santa Ana (562) 427-1028 – Long Beach (916) 651-4034 – Sacramento (Capitol) (916) 651-4025 – Sacramento (Capitol) Your participation in this effort will make a difference, so please make your calls now!
