CALSAGA sponsored AB 2128 makes it through first committee We are pleased to report that CALSAGA sponsored AB 2128, authored by Assemblyman Ted Gaines (R-Roseville), was voted out of the Assembly Business and Professions Committee today 8-0. Bryon Bayer – CALSAGA Region I Director and owner of Bayer Protective Services – testified in support, as did our lobbyist Kelly Jensen. AB 2128 would require private patrol operators (PPOs) offering armed security services to increase the amount of minimum liability and bodily injury insurance coverage from $500,000 to $1,000,000 and extend to the requirement to all licensed PPOs in California. There is also a provision in the bill that would require PPOs to show BSIS proof of insurance coverage when applying or renewing a license, which we think is a critical component. This is a great first step and we thank Assemblyman Gaines for his leadership on such an important issue for our members and industry. We will be sure to keep members up-to-date with the progress of AB 2128 as it moves through the legislative process.
