CALSAGA sponsored legislation put on consent calendar in first hearing

On April 23, the Senate Committee on Business, Professions and Economic Development took up CALSAGA sponsored legislation Senate Bill 666.

Sponsored by Senator Abel Maldonado (R – Santa Maria), SB 666 is aimed at requiring Proprietary Security Officers (PSO) to complete the mandatory 40 hours of training similar to what is required of contract security officers.

CALSAGA President Mark Miller and Legislative Committee Chair Randy Davis were in attendance and testified briefly on the importance of training for security officers, whether proprietary or contract.

Committee Chair Mark Ridley-Thomas (D – Los Angeles) put the bill on the consent calendar for a vote on a later date, since the bill did not have any opposition.  This is normal practice for bills that are unopposed.

CALSAGA will continue to keep you updated on the progress of SB 666 as it moves through the legislation process.
